Open source and open content projects have generally no borders - immediately when we started off using open source software - we got in touch with programmers from all over the world through the Internet.

OpenCafe in general - as it says in our slogan - building open communities - puts a special emphasis on getting to know and work with people from various cultures - in the cafe itself you find people from all over - many of them coming from African countries like Kenya, Zimbabwe, Ghana or Angola. In other words one of OpenCafe's aims is to start African discussions around development, open source software and open content with anyone interested in getting in touch with us.

Currently we work with Kevin (Kenya) and Abimbola (Nigeria) and Cymba (Zimbabwe) as part of our ArtMarketOnline project.

Click here to see our Pan African pages which also includes a page on Software Freedom Day 2005 events on the continent and a list of African LUGs.

Tectonic on the state of African free software
